CANADA’S FORESTRY SECTOR HONOURS ALAIN PAUL AND GRANULES LG INC. OF MASHTEUIATSH, QUEBEC WITH INDIGENOUS BUSINESS LEADERSHIP AWARD

September 21, 2020 – Ottawa:  Earlier today, Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC), in partnership with Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB), named Alain Paul with Granules LG Inc., of Mashteuiatsh, Québec as the recipient of the 2020 Indigenous Business Leadership Award.

The 2019 Indigenous Business Leadership Award celebrates Indigenous entrepreneurs in the forest products industry who exemplify business leadership through exceptional environmental and safety performance and the delivery of high-quality products and services. The recipient must also demonstrate a long-term commitment to the Indigenous community, particularly in supporting Indigenous employment.

“The forest products sector works in partnership with over 1,400 Indigenous-owned businesses. Indigenous business leaders are critical partners in advancing forest health and economic prosperity in our northern and rural forestry towns,,” said FPAC President and CEO Derek Nighbor.  “The Indigenous Business Leadership Award provides FPAC and CCAB with the opportunity to highlight some of the great work being done in these communities and how Indigenous business leaders are driving environmental, economic, and social opportunities across our country,” he added.

“The heart of the forestry sector lies within Indigenous communities and businesses,” said Tabatha Bull, President and CEO, Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.  “CCAB is once again proud to partner with FPAC and recognize the leadership and performance by a forest products business with a long-term commitment to the Indigenous community.  Congratulations to Alain Paul and Granules LG Inc., an Indigenous green energy company that has created long-term jobs and sustainable prosperity for their community.  They are most deserving of today’s recognition and serve as a positive role model to others.”
